Our Story

Life Is Better With Yoga

Yoga Was Heather’s Guiding Light

Born in Brisbane, Heather’s love of travel and adventure lured her to SE Asia in her early 20’s. She resided in India and Nepal for several years, studying Buddhism and learning about Hinduism – its Gods and Goddesses, its myths and mantras – from her Kathmandu family.

She drifted in and out of a regular yoga practice until a life-changing event in her mid-40’s caused her to examine who she was and what was important to her.

That’s when yoga changed from being an occasional pastime to a portal into a world of study and new beginnings. It was a full-circle homecoming to everything that she believed in – that the lessons learned on the mat are lessons for life.

A New Studio Is Born

Dharma teaches us that everyone is born with a unique set of temperaments, abilities and capacities and as such, each person has a distinct duty to perform for both the betterment of themselves and society as a whole, which requires a vast array of unique individuals to continue functioning properly.

For instance, if everyone wants to be an artist, who will build the houses? Or if everyone wants to conduct business and maintain the material wealth of society, who will tend to those people if they find themselves in a spiritual crisis?

When a much loved studio closed, a group of supportive and passionate people were determined it would not be lost to the community. With their help and ongoing support Heather gathered together a team of amazing yoga teachers and opened the light-filled and energetic space that is the yoga co-operative.

Our Vision

Authenticity, not perfection, is the cornerstone of our studio identity.

We will embrace the imperfections that come with being human and celebrate the unique qualities that make each of us special.

We will resonate with those who are tired of the pressure to be perfect and who are seeking a more genuine and accepting community.

All are welcome.
